Raise your hand if you’re ready for Summer!
We are still getting some pretty chilly days here, but for the most part spring has spring and it’s a lot more sunny around here already, which has made me eager for summer. I can’t wait to lounge outside, hit the beach and go on some weekend getaways!
Now of course, with the warmer weather and sunshine coming my way I needed to add a few new seasonal staples to my wardrobe this year: sun hats (I’m obsessed with those typographic straw hats that are all over the internet, you bet I picked one up for myself!), dresses and of course, sunglasses! Optically.ca was kind enough to offer to send some sunnies my way to help get me ready for the season!

If you haven’t heard of Optically before, they are a Canadian specialty online store that sells eyeglass. They have everything from frames starting at $9 CAD, prescription glasses, sunglasses and designer frames for both men and women. Some of the designer brands they carry are Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Guess and Fendi.
I know what you’re thinking… eye glass and sunglass shopping can be pretty tough, especially if you’re someone like me who has a really small head! Because of this, your first thought when buying frames or sunglasses probably isn’t to go shopping online.
But guess what… I actually found it really easy to shop online for some new sunnies with Optically’s site. Seriously!
My absolute favourite feature of Optically’s website was this cool little function where you could virtually try on any frames. This made it so easy for me to find some sunnies that I knew would be just perfect.
There were so many different frames to choose from, so I really appreciated this tool because it made it much easier for me when I was picking my frames.
Basically, you can take or upload a photo of yourself and then while you’re browse their website you can try on any of the glasses virtually. As I mentioned, I have a super tiny head so was able to eliminate some frames based on their size in the try on feature as I knew they were going to be too large for my small face.
Almost all of my other sunglasses are cat eye shaped. Naturally, I kept gravitating towards that shape when I was browsing at first and then I decided I should go for something different instead. That’s when I came across these frames. I loved how they are more of a rounded shape, but still have a bit of a cat eye vibe.
The frames are by a brand called Opium. I loved how they are more of a rounded shape, but still have a bit of a cat eye vibe. I also really like the gold arms and the little gold detail on the front of the frame – I thought it was a really nice touch.
I was also really impressed with how fast my glasses arrived, they took less than a week to get here.
The actual frames feel really sturdy, and I loved how the case is collapsible so when you are wearing the glasses you can just fold up the case for easy storage in your purse. (Seriously, how cool is that?) They also came with two soft-cloths for keeping my sunnies in tip-top shape.
I think these particular sunnies have become one of my favourite sunglasses. There is something so chic about these sunglasses, don’t you think?
Have any of you ever bought glasses online before? Optically has definitely shown me that getting a nice pair of frames online doesn’t have to be a scary thing, and I won’t think twice about ordering sunnies online again!
