Shop Local this Mother’s Day with Olive Bean & Co. (Review + Giveaway)

April 23, 2017

For those of you who are familiar with my blog, you are probably well aware that I’m big on supporting local and small businesses. (Hence my shop local series.) I recently discovered a local candle company called Olive Bean & Co. that I instantly became obsessed with – I just had to learn more and get my hands on some product!

The more I learned about the products, the more I fell in love. The owner, Amanda, is an advocate for holistic health and Olive Bean & Co. is actually an extension of her holistic lifestyle brand, Honestly Nourish, where she shares healthy recipes and promotes healthy living from the inside out all while locally sourcing products and ingredients where possible.

The candles Amanda creates are hand-poured made from  beeswax, coconut oil and therapeutic grade essential oils. The wicks are made out of 100% natural cotton. She has also recently begun offering candle-making workshops. The beeswax used to create the candles are even locally sourced from a beekeeper in Durham Region, how incredible is that?!

Because the candles are made using beeswax, they actually help to clean the air while you burn them by neutralizing dust, allergens and toxins in the air unlike other types of candles that can release chemicals. Not only that, but beeswax is a renewable resource.

This essentially goes back to that whole idea of promoting healthy living from the inside out that I mentioned earlier. The beeswax also has a natural light honey scent and burns brighter and longer than candles made from other types of wax. Aren’t these candles the perfect gift? (Hint: Mother’s Day is coming up!)

There are currently three different scents available for the jarred candles: lemongrass, lavender and peppermint. Which all smell incredible might I add – none of the scents are overpowering but they are all strong enough to fill the room with a subtle fragrance while burning. I think if I had to pick a favourite out of the three that it would be lemongrass – I’ve always been one for anything with a hint of lemon! It’s my all-time favourite scent. They’re all magical though.

Aside from the jar candles, you can also pick up hand dipped birthday candles, and occasionally tea-lights.

Amanda was also kind enough offer a gift bag of some of her amazing products for one lucky reader. To enter to win your own Olive & Bean Co. gift bag, simply use the widget below. Good luck everyone! You have until Saturday, April 29th at 11:59pm to enter.

PS – if you haven’t picked up something for Mother’s Day yet, these candles would make for the perfect gift. Seriously, I know my mom would be thrilled getting the lavender one!

I had content planned to post sooner (like this photo as I’m sure you can clearly tell by the Christmas decorations 😅), but life happened and I ended up taking a break from Instagram for the rest of my holidays which honestly was really nice.

This week was my first week back to work, so I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my pjs and Ruffi again this weekend.

’Tis the season for ugly Christmas sweaters! 🎄🎄🎄

This one has been a favourite of mine for a few years now. It might be time for me to get a new one to keep things fresh… or should I say ‘pine' fresh. See what I did there? Ok, I’ll see myself out. 🙈 #uglychristmassweater #christmas2020
