If you follow me on Instagram, you’re probably already familiar with Mint Floral Co, a florist located in downtown Whitby that I can’t stop posting photos of. (Seriously. It’s no secret that I’m kind of obsessed with them.)
Recently, they underwent some renovations which were revealed at Historic Downtown Whitby’s annual “Shop Late, Shop Local” night. So, I thought I would take the time to share a few photos of the gorgeous space and write about them.
They create the most gorgeous floral arrangements that you can custom-order for any occasion, or you can just pick up their pre-made in-store mason jar arrangements. One thing that I really love about Mint Floral Co, keeping with the shop local theme, is that many of the flowers used in their arrangements come from the owner’s garden or are locally sourced. (As much as they can be, it is Canada after all!) It’s a part of a mini-project that Mint Floral Co launched called The Farmer Florist.
I find that their arrangements also last a really long time – including the ones with peonies. In my experience, peonies would never last long but I was quick to learn they can last quite a while if they come from a good flourist and you care for them properly.
(Pro-tip: They told me to cut the stems and replace the water every two days and it had a dramatic effect on how long my flowers lasted.)
In addition to floral arrangements, the store also offers some great (and unique!) gifts. Another reason why I get so excited about Mint Floral Co. is that their stock-list for the gift section are small business owners and Etsy sellers, (many Canadian) such as: Woodlot, Bad Ass Candles, Seventh Tree Soaps, the Wicked Bohem and Liana Marie just to name a few.

ust when you thought this place couldn’t get any better, they also offer workshops ranging from floral arranging, succulent gardens, flower crowns, terrariums, etc. I think all of the workshops makes for a fun girls night out – they even offer private parties and workshops which come with wine (appropriately called “Sips and Stems”). Seasonal workshops are offered as well, such as wreaths and thanksgiving centerpieces! I haven’t taken one yet, but I’m itching to take the flower crown and winter wreath workshops.
The shop is located at 108 Dundas St West, in Whitby, Ontario and operating hours are Tuesday to Friday, 11am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.
