Shop Local: Aide Bodycare

April 1, 2015

Aide Bodycare is  one of my favourite local gems. When I first discovered the brand, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was based out of durham region. I first came across Aide Body care during the Toronto One Of A Kind Show. It was the end of the day by the time I found myself at her booth however, so my pockets were pretty empty. I immediately wished I had brought more money with me to the show. As soon as I got home, I found myself browsing her Etsy store and made some purchases for Christmas presents.

Post purchase, the mailman got a little confused as they sometimes do. For some bizarre reason, he decided to send my package past me to a city an hour away. Unfortunately due to the time of the year, the mail carrier could not guarantee arrival before Christmas as a result. Knowing that it was a Christmas present and only living 30 minutes away, Michelle showed up on my doorstep with a replacement order. Talk about customer service! At that moment it was clear to me just how passionate Michelle was about her business which just made me fall in love with her products even more.

If that doesn’t show not only what a great person Michelle is, but also how invested in Aide she is, I don’t know what does!

Aide Bodycare by Teacups & Things

A while ago, Michelle took the next step with Aide Bodycare and she opened up her studio to the public. Her shop is located close to Downtown Oshawa!

I still remember my first visit to the Aide Bodycare studio, when we were walking downstairs I remember the scent of the soaps getting stronger the closer I got. It was amazing, and not at all over powering like so many soaps out there. Just the right amount. We wandered around for a bit, chatted, and I snapped some photos of the space. (And shopped of course!)

In addition to selling soaps, she also sells bath soaks, lip balm, shaving soaps, apothecary skin care, and offers custom orders. She also offers classes where you can learn how to create your own cold press soaps. I’m dying to take one as soon as I have a little more free time.

So far I’ve tried the lip balms, hand soaps, bath soak and shave soaps and I honestly love them all. One of my favourite products from Aide, is the women’s shaving soap. It’s really moisturizing to the point where you don’t need to moisturize after shaving if you don’t want to. The fact that it smells amazing doesn’t hurt either. I’ve bought some of the men’s shaving soaps for gifts, and everyone has raved about them as well!

Where to Buy:
In addition to purchasing her products locally, they can also be found at her Etsy store, the Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Urban Outfitters on Younge St in Toronto, Ste. Anne’s Spa, and many more retailers! (Including one in BC, and one in the UK!) For a full list of retailers, you can go here.

I had content planned to post sooner (like this photo as I’m sure you can clearly tell by the Christmas decorations 😅), but life happened and I ended up taking a break from Instagram for the rest of my holidays which honestly was really nice.

This week was my first week back to work, so I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my pjs and Ruffi again this weekend.

’Tis the season for ugly Christmas sweaters! 🎄🎄🎄

This one has been a favourite of mine for a few years now. It might be time for me to get a new one to keep things fresh… or should I say ‘pine' fresh. See what I did there? Ok, I’ll see myself out. 🙈 #uglychristmassweater #christmas2020
