Aide Bodycare: DIY Organic Bath Salt Bar

May 12, 2016

Aide Bodycare: DIY Organic Bath Salt Bar

You’ve heard me ramble on about Aide Bodycare many, many times before… enough to know that there never really will be a ‘last time’ ;). On my last visit to Michelle’s shop, she had a new feature that had me really excited: a DIY Bath Soak Bar.

We all know I love a good bath and DIY. So naturally, I was pretty stoked.

The Bar comes is loaded with epson and himalayan salts, tons of essential oils you can mix and play with, botanicals (I’m a big fan of the dried roses), oatmeal and more.

Aide Bodycare: Facial Serum

Aide Bodycare: Facial Serum

I’ll admit it: I’m obsessed with this product by Aide Bodycare. You’ve heard me rave about their products before and I’ve wanted to try this one ever since it came out. I’ve been using it religiously for about a month now so I thought it was about time I share it with you.

As a teenager, I never really had any problems with my skin. Flash forward to adulthood and skin problems. I have combination acne prone skin, which really breaks out before that time of the month. I’ve found it difficult deal with; I have really sensitive skin so most over the counter products don’t work, gentle prescription products weren’t effective enough, I tried to really be careful about what I ate, which again helped but didn’t solve my problems.

Shop Local: Aide Bodycare

Shop Local: Aide Bodycare

Aide Bodycare is  one of my favourite local gems. When I first discovered the brand, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was based out of durham region. I first came across Aide Body care during the Toronto One Of A Kind Show. It was the end of the day by the time I found myself at her booth however, so my pockets were pretty empty. I immediately wished I had brought more money with me to the show. As soon as I got home, I found myself browsing her Etsy store and made some purchases for Christmas presents.

My favourite local shops and why I’m shopping local this holiday season – #ShopInDurham

My favourite local shops and why I’m shopping local this holiday season – #ShopInDurham

If you’ve been around here for a while, I’m sure you all know how passionate I am about supporting local communities and how much I love shopping local. While I know this isn’t something that I can always do, I do try to shop local as much as possible and when I can’t I try to make a conscious effort to purchase from Canadian retailers and brands.

I think now more than ever it’s SO important that we shop local and support our local communities and business owners. You know what they say – buy local, or it’s bye local.

Shop Local: The Juice Craze (Worth the Squeeze)

Shop Local: The Juice Craze (Worth the Squeeze)

If you have been around the blog for a while, you’re probably familiar with my smoothie addiction (thanks to my Vitamix) and if you follow me on Instagram, my juice addiction. Seriously you guys, I love juice.

So why is juicing so great anyways? Well, juicing extracts all those vitamins, minerals and nutrients out of your veggies and fruit and packs them into a delicious drink that can only be described as “nectar from the gods” (okay, I’m probably exaggerating a bit with the last part). I also read on the Internet once that because the juicer is breaking down the food for you that your body absorbs the nutrients faster and more efficiently. So there’s that.

I personally love juice because I find it so hard to incorporate enough fruits and veggies into my diet without it. As someone with tummy troubles, I also find it helps my digestive system and I find I get sick less and it really helps prevent break outs. I also notice that I just feel ‘healthier’ and more energized pretty soon after drinking some.

The 7 Products that Saved My Skin

The 7 Products that Saved My Skin

Time for a bit of #RealTalk guys. I’ll be the first to admit that my skin is problematic. I’ve written about it before and how its pretty sensitive and acne prone. It hasn’t always been a struggle for me, as a teenage I never had problems with my skin. Aside from sensitivities (a lot of products would give me rashes but it wasn’t anything that a Benadryl couldn’t take care of) I never experienced any bad breakouts, just one odd pimple every so often. I think this is one of the reasons that I find it such a struggle now. It’s simply just not fun to have breakouts in your mid to late twenties like you’re 16.

In the past, I’ve mentioned some products here and there that I truly love and that had a drastic impact on my skin such as my favourite face masks and raving about Aide Bodycare’s facial serum (seriously, it rocks!), but I have yet to dedicate an entire post to these products so I thought that it was about time I wrote one.

Why Sleep Should Be Your #1 Bae

May 25, 2016

Why Sleep Should Be Your #1 Bae

Let’s talk about sleep (baby*). If you haven’t figured it out already, your relationship with sleep is the most important relationship you have in your life. Seriously.

Every month my office does a bookclub, and we’re currently reading Arianna Huffinton’s book, The Sleep Revolution. Sleep has always been very important to me. I’m not a nice person when I don’t get enough sleep, and I require a lot of Z’s. And I always knew that it was important for our health, too.

But I never realized just how important it is, or how fascinating it actually is.
