One of my favourite summer activities is visiting a lavender field. It’s been a tradition for the past few years to go every July. It’s both incredibly relaxing and a lot of fun.
If you’re looking for a safe, family-friendly and Instagram-worthy activity to do this summer I definitely would recommend adding visiting a lavender farm to your list.
We’re lucky enough to have a few different lavender farms that are open to the public that is close by. This year, we decided to head to Laveanne Lavender, located in Cambellcroft, ON – just under 1.5 hours from Toronto. The farm is a family business and is owned by a husband and wife team.

During your visit, you can relax amongst the lavender, take insta-worthy photos, explore their lavender labyrinth and shop a variety of lavender-infused products. Their product line includes skincare, body-care, dried floral, artisanal culinary goods and you can even purchase your own nursery lavender plants! You can also bring a picnic lunch to enjoy during your timeslot.
Laveanne does limit the number of people in each timeslot, which makes it not only great for maintaining social distancing but also for taking photos! It also really helps to maintain the calming atmosphere of the lavender farm – it made the entire experience all the more enjoyable. We spoke to the owners while we were there, and they said that this was something they were planning to continue to do even as things get back to normal because the feedback has been so positive, which I’m really excited about.
We started off our time at Laveanne by checking out the fields and labyrinth first. I was a little nervous it was going to rain during our time there, but luckaily the weather held out and the overcast ended up being perfect for photos – we really lucked out.
I wore my brand new Lakeside Romper from the Smash & Tess, which was a part of a collab with Jillian Harris, and was so comfy. I actually bought this romper in both of the colours it came in (grey, pictured here, and black) because I couldn’t decide between the two colours with the intention to return one, but I ended up keeping both colours because I love it so much. It’s the perfect romper – it feels like you’re wearing pyjamams, but can be worn for any occassion. It’s easy to dress up with some heels, accessories or even a blazer. After we were done taking photos and exploring the fields, we headed on over to their outdoor market to shop!
I ended up picking up some of their relaxing, natural lavendar mist which can be used on everything from pillows and sofas, to being used as a facial mist or room spray. Fun fact – lavender is really good for soothing sunburns, Eczema, Psoriasis, acne and razor burns. It’s also great for headaches, anxiety and increasing sleep quality and concentration. We also got a lavender sache, a nusery lavender plant, and some candied lavender pecans, which were so good, they barely made it all the way home. You can also shop online on their website prior to your visit and just pick it up when you get there.
We’ve also purchased their culinary grade dried lavender before and it’s absolutely amazing to cook and bake with. I love using it in cookies, cupcakes or even marinates.
If you’re looking for a fun, outdoor activty for this summer I would definately reccomend you add visiting a lavender farm to your list and check out Laveanne if you’re local. Tickets can be purchased on their website, for 1-hour time slots. Because they limit the number of people in each timeslot, it’s best to purchase your tickets in advanced as they may not always be able to accomodate drop-ins.
