Review: Sephora avocado sheet mask

October 21, 2018

I recently picked up three sheet masks from Sephora: avocado; pearl and green tea. I’ve never tried a sheet mask before and to be honesty I’ve always been a little nervous to do so because I have very sensitive skin so I usually stick to the clay masks that I know work for me, but I’ve always been curious and have wanted to try it.

I thought the masks at Sephora was a good place to start and then if I liked them and my skin reacted okay to them I would then venture out to try some of the more popular K-beauty brands.

I ended up trying out the avocado mask first because I thought it would help the most with what I had been experiencing with my skin that week. I had a few breakouts and they were in the process of healing and my skin had been feeling really dull.

When I opened the package up, it smelt ah-mazing. Since I primarily use clay masks, I’m used to masks smelly a little funky so the scent was really nice. I was a little worried about it though because as you all know, fragrance can be an irritant for sensitive skin. But, I strategically chose to try out this mask on a Friday night of a weekend where I had nothing to do so if I didn’t react I could just hide out at home.

I had read online that sometimes you don’t get enough product/oils with some brands of sheet masks. This wasn’t the case with this one, there was tons of product on the sheet mask and even a bit of excess in the package. I followed the instructions on the back and set a timer for 15 minutes.

My face didn’t feel irritated, but it did feel a little tingly so I was worried it was going to be irritated after. It looked okay when I took it off but to be safe and because I was nervous I did gently give my face a quick splash of water to get some of the excess product off to be safe even though the packaging said you didn’t need to rinse it off.

My skin immediately felt more moisturized, nourished and a little tighter and I did notice a positive difference in my skins appearance. My skin never did end up getting irritated, so that was great. Overall, I really liked this mask and would buy it again. It was $8 CAD per sheet mask and Sephora has a great promo of buy 3 get 1 on their sheet masks. I do think that price might be a little more than your average sheet mask from a K-brand, but I might be wrong on that so don’t quote me. (I’ve seen a few K-brands at my drugstore for around $3-4 each.)

Have any of you tried sheet masks before, specifically K-beauty ones? If so, let me know which ones you would recommend and why so I can decide on which ones I should try next! Let me know if you’d like me to share my thoughts on the other two masks as well.

Fun fact, @batistecanada was the first dry shampoo Fun fact, @batistecanada was the first dry shampoo I ever tried. (Gifted)

I've been an avid dry shampoo user for years. I have really fine/straight hair and it helps with adding some volume back to my hair inbetween washes, without making it feel greasy like styling products do.

I recently got the #BatisteWonderWoman edition to try through @chickadvisor, and it smells SO good that I just had to share! #gotitfree
