Quick and easy, insta-worthy meals with HelloFresh + coupon code

September 20, 2017

Last week, I had the opportunity to try out HelloFresh. If you follow me on Instagram and watched my stories you’re probably already familiar with the concept.

For those of you who don’t and aren’t familiar with them, HelloFresh is a meal subscription service. They send you 3-4 chef-curated meals based on seasonal farm fresh ingredients, delivered right to your door! It’s something that I have wanted to try for a while.

Spoiler alert: everything is quick, easy and delicious.

The meals in this box are not only fast, taking under 30 minutes to make, but the recipes are also full of unique and exciting flavours.

Because there are 3 of is in our house, we went with the 4 people plan. For the 3 recipes we tried, all of them had just enough leftover for lunch the next day, even if you were actually feeding 4 people.

I’m sure some of you are wondering “but are the ingredients actually fresh since they’re being shipped?” – yes, they are. I’m pretty sure when I’m grocery shopping I don’t even manage to pick food as fresh. (I am the worst grocery shopper.)

Since I have a gluten allergy, I found this really helpful. I found that a lot of the meals were already gluten free, but for the one or two that weren’t this made it super easy to pick a meal that I knew I could easily customize for myself. All of the ingredients are also clearly marked with what allergens they contain in the recipe book.

The first meal we tried was the Mexican Style Beef Tacos, (it was Taco Tuesday after all) and holy guacamole were they good!

The ingredients I received in this meal box were:

  • Limes
  • Sour cream
  • Cilantro
  • Raddish
  • Carrots
  • Avocados
  • Mexican style spice pack
  • Red onion (pre-chopped)
  • White wine vinegar
  • Beef strips
  • Soft tacos (not gluten-free, I just used corn tacos instead but you could also use lettuce as a wrap)

I think this one might be my favourite out of the 3 meals. What really wowed me about this one was that one step was so simple, so delicious and something that I can’t believe i never thought of before: adding lime juice and zest to sour cream. So simple! So good!

The second meal we tried was the Thai Massaman Rice bowl. I loved this one, it was total comfort food, but also healthy!

This one was my mom’s favourite out of the 3 meals. In this box, I got:

  • Basmati rice
  • Eggplant
  • Cremini mushrooms
  • Lime
  • Chili cashews (so good)
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned coconut milk
  • Cilantro
  • Bamboo shoots (my new favourite thing)
  • Massaman curry paste

Out of all the meals, this one made the most and had enough leftovers for two people to have for lunch.

The last meal we had was the Leek and Feta chicken. How can anything with feta cheese not be amazing?!

This particular meal was my dad’s favourite. In this box we got:

  • Garlic
  • Yukon potatoes
  • Leeks (chopped)
  • Lemon
  • Kale
  • Feta cheese
  • Tarragon
  • Chicken breast

I was actually shocked that this one was my dad’s favourite. Lemon is one of his favourite ingredients, but he has never been too big on kale. His plate legitimately looked like he had licked it clean. We’re always trying to get him to eat healthier, so this was a huge win.

I never realized how long grocery shopping actually takes until now. It seems like a simple task, but if you’re as busy as our household is having a couple of hours back in the week really does make a difference. Meal planning is hard.

Whether you’re looking to save some time each week due to your busy schedule, or want to try quick, delicious, new recipes, or just hate grocery shopping, HelloFresh has got your back.

If you are interested in trying out HelloFresh for yourself, you’re in luck because I have a coupon code that you can use to save $25 off your first and second box: “TEACUPS50”

Enjoy!

I had content planned to post sooner (like this photo as I’m sure you can clearly tell by the Christmas decorations 😅), but life happened and I ended up taking a break from Instagram for the rest of my holidays which honestly was really nice.

This week was my first week back to work, so I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my pjs and Ruffi again this weekend.
