I’m the first person to admit that I always buy books based on the cover. (I’m a total sucker, an advertiser’s dream if you will.) Because of this, more often than I’d like to, the books I end up buying are terrible with only a few occasional surprise gems. Spoiler alert: don’t buy books based on the cover. Unless it’s this one.
I realize that these posts are totally over done, but I love these kinds of posts so I’m doing it anyway. Take that, Internet. I honestly do love them because it’s such a fantastic way to find out about new and old products you haven’t used before and I’m always looking to spice things up a bit when it comes to my regular makeup/beauty product routine… not to mention the fact that there is just soooo many products out there!
I have quite a few different make-up and skin routines (they vary from the lazy versions and the non-lazy-versions) and change season to season. Today I thought I would share some of my staple beauty products for the summer!

Hi friends! I hope everyone’s summer is going great so far! This weekend we had our annual garden party, (or what I like to refer to as “the Sunday once a year where we stuff our bodies with as much food and sangria as humanly possible and take too many Instagram photos”) and this year’s theme was tropical! Me being the silly girl I am completely forgot to take a single photo with my DLSR but everything was so cute I had to share it with you – so I give you sub-par phone-quality photos. Thankfully, technology is good enough that they aren’t that terrible.
You scream, I scream, we all scream for peach ice cream!
This past Sunday was National Ice Cream Day (yum!) and what better way to celebrate than home made ice cream! Peaches have always been one of my favourite fruits in the summer, I don’t know what it is about them (and watermelon) but they just scream summer to me… so I decided to make some peach ice cream!
It’s finally summer! Every summer I make a bucket list, and every summer I make it too long and too complicated and too hard to complete and I end up checking off maybe 5 items. But not this year. This year is my year. I’ve decided to be a little more realistic in what I want to accomplish this summer, especially considering that my time is very limited between a full time job, volunteering with putting together a local event, sleeping and stuffing my face (BBQ season is my favourite season).
So here goes.
As many of you know, I love clothes; some (re: everyone) may say it’s a bit of a problem at times, I love entertaining; tea sandwiches, sangria and a kick ass playlist is a must for every party, I love the arts and culture; museums, live theatre, you name it, I’m there, and of course, I can be a bit of an organizational freak and I take costume parties way too seriously. Some of these things were passions that I knowingly shared with my grandmother, some were things that I shared with her but didn’t know until recently.
I will start by saying that this isn’t a typical post for me, it’s a little more wordy, serious and a whole lot more personal than my usual posts. But, it’s something that is important to me and it was really therapeutic to write about it.
Some of you may know already that I am now a part of an amazing little project called Hey, Pass The Cake! Hey, Pass The Cake is essentially a lifestyle editorial website that is put together by a wide range of bloggers. The main focus of the site is to provide real, relatable advice with a slice of humour that you can actually use. It’s written for the sometimes overworked, underpaid but always fabulous 20-30 something year old struggling to figure things out, by 20-30 year olds. I’m so excited to be a part of this project!
