My Favourite Fall Lipsticks

October 15, 2020

I’ve always been someone who loves a bold lip, especially during the Fall or Winter months, so I thought I would take some time to do a short round-up post of some of my favourite lippies for Fall!

I know what you’re probably thinking,“Kait, why are you posting about your favourite fall lipsticks when we have to wear masks or face coverings?”, but hear me out.

For the most part, I’ve traded in my typical make-up routine for a much simpler one since converting to Working From Home but one thing I still love to use is lip products and mascara.

Why you ask?

Since WFH started, all of my meetings have gone virtual. I’ve always found that mascara really helps to make my eyes look more awake and this still translates well to on-camera. Plus,  where I live, face masks or coverings are mandatory in public spaces where social distancing isn’t possible and inside buildings. Because of this, all you can see is your eyes so it makes sense to invest a little more time into that area of your face when doing your makeup. Interestingly enough, it seems many people agree as mascara and other eye-products sales have gone up since the start of the pandemic.

From left to right:

  • 01: Burt’s Bees – Nude
  • 02: 3CE – Mirrorlike
  • 03: Rom&nd – Fig
  • 04: Inisfree – Vivid Ink No. 13
  • 05: Innisfree – Vivid Ink No. 10
  • o6: Too Faced – Gingerbread Man
  • 07: Mayballine – Ruler

While the second half of that reasoning doesn’t apply to lipstick, the first part does. I find that a little bit of lip products really help to pull your overall appearance together on camera – plus it just makes me happy. Not to mention the fact that I have an entire drawer full of lipsticks and glosses and that I kinda need to use up. (Hello, my name is Kait and I have a lipstick problem.)

With that said, here are my favourite fall lipsticks!

01: Burt’s Bees – 100% Natural Lipstick in Nude

This is my absolute favourite nude lipstick for fall. One of my fav things about this one is how incredibly moisturizing it is all on it’s own – that’s all because it’s 100% natural and made with castor seed oil and beeswax to keep your lips feeling soft and moisturized throughout the day.

I do find that I have to re-apply this a few times throughout the day, especially after eating.

02: 3CE – Matte Lipstick in Mirrorlike

3CE has quickly become one of my favourite cosmetics brands. They’re a South Korean brand and their matte lipstick isn’t drying at – in fact, it’s somehow moisturizing! This particular colour is called Mirrorlike. I often find myself reaching for it more than once throughout the week.

Overall, this lipstick does last a long time but I do end up re-applying it once or twice during the day.

03: Rom&nd – Juicy Lasting Tint in Fig

I really love Rom&nd’s Juicy Lasting line. It looks like a lip gloss, but this is actually a lip tint that turns glossy. The lip tint is incredibly strong and lasts throughout the day. The glossy effect will fade slowly, (especially if you eat or drink) so I will sometimes re-apply it throughout the day to get that vivid glossy effect again.

Most of their colours tend to lean more on the summery side, but I think Fig is the perfect colour for fall. I love the rich berry tones it has.

04: Innisfree – Vivid Cotton Ink in No. 13

Innisfree is another one of my favourite Korean cosmetic brands. (I love it so much that they even make an appearance twice on this list!) This is a mattifying liquid lipstick with vibrant colours. It is a little drying, as all liquid matte lipsticks are, but compared to a lot of other brands it’s not too drying and has some moisture to it.

My favourite thing about this lipstick (aside from how vivid it is, of course) is how long it lasts. Unless I’m eating or drinking a lot I won’t have to re-apply it throughout the day, and if I do it’s only once.

No. 13 is a beautiful bright red, perfect for Fall/Winter.

05: Innisfree – Vivid Cotton Ink in No. 10

This lipstick is from the same line as the last one was, but it’s a different colour.

No. 10 is a little more muted compared to No. 13, but it’s still incredibly vivid. It’s more of a burnt orangey-rose colour that is absolutely to die for. To me, it just screams fall.

As I mentioned above, this lipstick can be a little drying, but compared other brands  I’ve tried has more moisture to it and it doesn’t go flakey when it dries out. Usually I don’t have to re-apply it throughout the day, and if I do it’s only once.

06: Too Faced – Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man

Another matte lipstick! This one is technically a Christmas themed lipstick as it’s from Too Faced’s limited edition holiday collection from 2019. As a result, it’s kind of hard to find now but it’s my all-time favourite lipstick so I had to include it. It’s called Gingerbread Man, but honestly the colour reminds more of pumpkin than anything else.

Since it is hard to find being a limited edition, this page, is filled with a long list of dupes and similar shades if you love it as much as I do. I’ll seriously be bummed out when I run out of this one.

07: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Ruler

Last but not least is Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink lipstick in the colour Ruler. I will say that I find this particular line of matte lipsticks to be more drying than others, but I really love the rich colours this line has so I had to include it. Ruler is just the most perfect, deep berry colour for fall.

Just make sure you use a good lip balm before you apply the lipstick. One thing that is great about this lipstick is it that the colour stays on so well you can also apply a bit of lip balm on top when it starts to dry out. I also like to use an overnight lip mask after wearing this lipstick all day to help put some moisture back into my lips.

I had content planned to post sooner (like this photo as I’m sure you can clearly tell by the Christmas decorations 😅), but life happened and I ended up taking a break from Instagram for the rest of my holidays which honestly was really nice.

This week was my first week back to work, so I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my pjs and Ruffi again this weekend.
