People who know me well know that I have two modes: a) the version of me you most often see on my blog and social media channels who tries to be fashionable, and b) the version me that is in super casual and comfy clothes, such as leggings or pjs – aka how I spend the majority of my time.
This post is about that second version of me.
So much of what we see on social media these days are the highlight reels, and I am no exception to this fact. There are days where as soon as I’m done shooting content my make-up is off and I’m back in sweats. There are also days where I don’t even bother to leave my pyjamas. If I’m being totally honest, these are my favourite days.
It’s also the first thing I do when I get home from work too – toss my hair up and throw on some comfy clothes!
Hats are also one of my favourite accessories, and like mugs I probably own way too many but I don’t care. I love how any hat can completely change the vibe of an outfit. They’e also super handy when you’re having those bad hair days and you want to cover it up. The one downside is that by having medium-short hair, I’ve never been able to wear my hair pulled back or up with a ball cap because low ponytails just don’t work and I can’t seem to pull my hair high enough to fit through the hole at the back – until now.
Hoodie and leggings: H&M, shoes: Keds, hat: Top Knot Inc.
Meet Top Knot, a super cool Canadian company. The back of their hats are done with a magnetic closure (genius) so that no matter then length of your hair you can wear it down or up and at any height. Take that, bad hair days!
Their hats come in two different styles, performance (which I have) and casual wear and are available in three different sizes: XS/S (Youth), S/M and M/L. I have a small head and sometime have a hard time finding thats that fit me properly so I was really excited to see that they came in a variety of sizes. I ended up going with the S/M and it fits me perfectly.
Here’s the breakdown of the main difference between the two styles:
Performance wear
- Deluxe Water Resistant Fabric
- Sleek and contoured design
- Unstructured crown for maximum flexibility and form fit
- NU-FIT™ Sweatband for stretch fit
- Breathable Fabric
- Available in 5 colours
Casual wear
- Waterproof
- Windproof
- Structured crown
- NU-FIT™ Sweatband for stretch fit
- Breathable Fabric
- Satin-feel Finish Fabric
- Available in 3 colours
My Top Knot has has become a staple in my weekend wear and can also usually be found in my work bag. Working at a college I often have to walk from one end of campus to the other, and sometimes I get unsuspectingly caught is less than favourable weather (wind, rain, snow, sleet, you name it) while on my way to meetings so I’ll toss on my hat to help keep my hair mess to a minimum and everything dry. Aside from the magnetic back closure, it being water resistant is my favourite feature.
Also I’m curious – does anyone else become a totally different person fashion-wise on the weekends?
