As someone who loves tea, I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting blends to try. Recently, Durumi Tea reached out to see if I wanted to try out some teas – naturally I jumped at the occasion!
Durumi Tea is a Canadian tea company that sources their leaves from Jeju Island, Korea. They currently offer two types of tea from Jeju Island: Hongcha and Sejak.
If you watch K-dramas you’ll know that Jeju Island has long been the country’s favourite domestic holiday destination, especially romantic getaways – but what you may not know is that it’s also is renowned for its fertile soil and ideal growing conditions.
Hongcha
Light. Floral. Silky
The Hongcha is a fully oxidized black tea, also known as “red tea” due to it’s deep amber colour once steeped. The leaves are carefully chosen and processed to bring out the tea’s flavor profile.
The taste is full-bodied, with earthy, floral undertones. I found myself often reaching for this tea mid-morning, especially on rainy days – it’s giving all of the cozy vibes.
Sejak
Earthy. Nutty. Bright.
Sejak is a delicate green tea made from tender buds and young leaves hand-picked in the early spring. The leaves are plucked after the early spring rains, then steamed and pan-fired to create a distinctive flavor that’s bright, earthy, and nutty.
I found this tea to be very refreshing – it’s lovely iced or hot and perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up
I loved the subtle marine notes that comple mented the tea’s natural flavor, making it a perfect choice for a morning cup of tea to start the day off on the right foot.
Overall, I really enjoyed both of these teas! If you’re looking for high-quality tea, that’s both delicious and responsibly sourced, defiantly check them out.
