Recipe: Maple Sesame Glazed Chicken from The Migraine Relief Plan

February 6, 2017

Recipe: Maple Sesame Glazed Chicken from The Migraine Relief Plan

When I first heard about Stephanie Weaver’s new book The Migraine Relief Plan, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I’ve always been someone that has suffered from migraines, and migraines suck.

When I went gluten-free 8 years ago (I can’t believe it’s been that long!) I did notice an overall decrease in the amount of attacks I had. From time to time though I still get migraines and sometimes they last for a few days. In the past, I would just pop an over-the-counter pain reliever and pray it would do the trick. More than often they wouldn’t and they would just give me side-effects (cue the stomach ache). I just keep thinking that wouldn’t it just be better if there was a way to prevent them all together, without medicine? I love Saje’s peppermint halo for treating my headaches too, but sometimes it isn’t strong enough to completely do the trick.

The Migraine Relief Plan is a book that was created with that purpose in mind. So, naturally when I heard about it in a gluten-free Facebook group I jumped at the chance to get my hands on it.

Getting Cozy for the Holidays with Orville Redenbacher’s

December 16, 2016

Getting Cozy for the Holidays with Orville Redenbacher’s

Can you believe that Christmas is just a few days away?! It honestly just feels like I was getting ready for fall just a few days ago! I think I have just been so busy this season that I have had hardly any time to just enjoy the Holiday season.

So this weekend, I forced myself to take some much needed time-out, shut off my email and relax and get in the Holiday Spirit, and Orville Redenbacher’s helped me out with that.

There’s just something about popcorn, PJs, a movie marathon and blankets on a cold winter’s night that is just so comforting. I really love those terrible made-for-TV Christmas movies. I mean, they are just so bad that they’re good! It’s kind of  a family tradition in my house to watch as many of them as we can with popcorn in hand during December.

Recipe: Candy Cane Pancakes (gluten-free)

Recipe: Candy Cane Pancakes (gluten-free)

‘Tis the season for Candy Cane everything! I don’t know about you guys, but I’m in full Holiday mode, thanks to all those delightfully terrible made-for-TV Christmas movies. (I know, I know, super corny. But they are so bad they are good!) We had our very first snowfall today too!

As a result, all I want to do is wrap presents, stay in my onesie and work by our Christmas tree. I’m also craving everything chocolate-y and peppermint. So naturally, I started baking!

Recipe: Gluten-Free Pumpkin Chai Cupcakes

Recipe: Gluten-Free Pumpkin Chai Cupcakes

It’s no secret that I love everything related to fall. (See Exhibit A and Exhibit B here.) Naturally, with it being fall, I am craving pumpkin everything and I’m on a mission to do as many fall things as I can before it’s over.

Pumpkin bread, scones, cake, ice cream, candles, I love it all! And then I thought to myself, what is the one thing I like more than pumpkin? Tea of course, and then it hit me: Pumpkin Chai Cupcakes!!!

I have to admit that I was inspired by one of my favourite teas for this particular recipe… of course I’m referring to DAVIDsTea’s Pumpkin Chai! It is seriously the perfect tea for fall and warming the soul up after a crisp, fall day. I love the mix of sweet pumpkin, cinnamon and chai spices. It’s the perfect balance and drink for fall.
