Gluten-free Travel Guide: Windsor-Essex Area

July 23, 2017

Gluten-free Travel Guide: Windsor-Essex Area

I recently had the incredible opportunity to go on a girls getaway for three days with some fellow bloggers. For all you gluten-free folk out there, you know how scary traveling can be because of one minor detail: will you be able to eat anything without dying?

During our getaway I did not go hungry once. Not only was everywhere super accommodating with my allergy, but the food was also kinda ah-mazing. One thing that I really loved about the food here was that almost every place we ate was committed to using local ingredients as much as possible. How great is that?

DIY Gluten-Free Charcuterie Board

DIY Gluten-Free Charcuterie Board

Cheese, wine and meats are some of my favourite things! So naturally, when Two Oceans sent me a few bottles of wine, I knew I had to enjoy them with my family alongside a homemade charcuterie board. (Whoever said charcuterie boards couldn’t be enjoyed at home, anyways?)

Charcuterie boards are a wonderful thing. Being gluten free, I often can’t always eat them when dining out so I resort to making my own. (I won’t lie, I sometimes eat them all by myself too. If you cut me I’ll bleed brie.) They seriously so easy to make at home and are great for whenever you are entertaining.

Shop Local: The Juice Craze (Worth the Squeeze)

Shop Local: The Juice Craze (Worth the Squeeze)

If you have been around the blog for a while, you’re probably familiar with my smoothie addiction (thanks to my Vitamix) and if you follow me on Instagram, my juice addiction. Seriously you guys, I love juice.

So why is juicing so great anyways? Well, juicing extracts all those vitamins, minerals and nutrients out of your veggies and fruit and packs them into a delicious drink that can only be described as “nectar from the gods” (okay, I’m probably exaggerating a bit with the last part). I also read on the Internet once that because the juicer is breaking down the food for you that your body absorbs the nutrients faster and more efficiently. So there’s that.

I personally love juice because I find it so hard to incorporate enough fruits and veggies into my diet without it. As someone with tummy troubles, I also find it helps my digestive system and I find I get sick less and it really helps prevent break outs. I also notice that I just feel ‘healthier’ and more energized pretty soon after drinking some.

Recipe: Easy Valentine’s Day Cookies (Gluten-Free)

Recipe: Easy Valentine’s Day Cookies (Gluten-Free)

Ok guys, maybe I’m super lame but I love Valentine’s Day. Not because I’m a romantic, but because I love the colours, decorations and themed stuff! (Seriously, theme parties are my favourite.) I just love all the cute stuff. Or maybe it’s because my birthday is the day before, who knows.

When I was growing up that Valentine’s was always really fun and something that I always looked forward to. We were taught that Valentine’s was a day to celebrate all the people you loved — friends, family, pets, you name it! We would always make cards for everyone, some sort of themed craft and of course, cookies.

Because who doesn’t love cookies?!
