Getting Cozy for the Holidays with Orville Redenbacher’s

Getting Cozy for the Holidays with Orville Redenbacher’s

Can you believe that Christmas is just a few days away?! It honestly just feels like I was getting ready for fall just a few days ago! I think I have just been so busy this season that I have had hardly any time to just enjoy the Holiday season.

So this weekend, I forced myself to take some much needed time-out, shut off my email and relax and get in the Holiday Spirit, and Orville Redenbacher’s helped me out with that.

There’s just something about popcorn, PJs, a movie marathon and blankets on a cold winter’s night that is just so comforting. I really love those terrible made-for-TV Christmas movies. I mean, they are just so bad that they’re good! It’s kind of  a family tradition in my house to watch as many of them as we can with popcorn in hand during December.

You Care Too Much: the important act of self-care

You Care Too Much: the important act of self-care

What does self-care mean to you? For me, in addition to my daily routine of putting my face on, it’s getting that much needed “me time” and letting my body relax and recover from life. I make a conscious effort to not schedule anything on Sundays. Sundays are my “me day” – I catch up on freelance work, my TV shows, stay in my PJs and end the day with a lush cosmetics bath. It’s my Sunday ritual.

Self-care is such an important act, one that I think we often push to the sidelines for various reasons: we’re too busy caring for others, we don’t have time because of our jobs, school work or adulting, blah blah blah. I won’t lie, I catch myself making excuses too sometimes. When I chose to dedicate one day a week to self-care, the excuses started happening a whole lot less. And honestly, it taught me just how important and valuable the simple act of self-care is.

Hello, 2016.

January 1, 2016

Hello, 2016.

Happy New Years everyone!! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and holiday! I sure did, and will be posting more about that in a bit but in the meantime I wanted to chat a bit about my goals for 2016 and my year while it was fresh in my mind! I spent my New Years in the best way possible in my books; surrounded by family & friends, stuffing our faces with food and watching New Years TV specials and playing games in our PJs — My kind of New Years!!

2015 was an interesting year for me. In some ways, it was one of my best 5 years yet; but in other ways it had some pretty hard moments. It was the year I made my TV debut, I appeared on a local talk show to chat about blogging, social media, branding and demonstrated a recipe from my blog (as seen here); I landed two of my dream gigs and jobs in my area of study; I finished two courses with a final grade of 100%; I had some amazing partnerships on the blog (such as the Oshawa Centre!); I had the opportunity to work with the Regional Municipality of Durham and help plan, promote and manage social media for a local festival; and many opportunities for 2016 were finalized. (Stay tuned – details to come!)

Holiday Bucket List

Holiday Bucket List

I’m having fun doing these types of posts, so I thought I would make a bucket list for the Holiday season! I almost checked off all of my items on my fall list (I missed two – light a fire and homemade applesauce), so I’m hoping I can get all of the items crossed off thisone. Anyways, here’s the list:

  • Happy Monday! I’m so over my winter wardrobe and can’t wait for the warmer weather to arrive. Let’s hope the weather man wasn’t lying when he said it will warm up next week! 🤞🌤
PS yes, I’m still obsessed with the statement sleeve trend. Love this top from @suzyshierofficial. #suzyshier #suzystyle #suzygirl
  • Ranunculus season is the best season, am I right?! 🌸☀️
  • How cute are the sleeves on this top I picked up from @suzyshierofficial? Today’s snowy April weather has me dreaming of warmer weather. Mother Nature, please bring the spring weather back 😩🌸. #ByeWinter #SpringWhereYouAt // Full outfit details → link in bio.
  • Happy Easter everyone! It’s acceptable to have mini eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner today, right?! 🌸🐰🐣

  • Spring has (almost) sprung! It’s one of my favourite seasons because I *love* spring fashion. 🌸🌷☀️ How cute are the sleeves on this floral gingham top I picked up from @suzyshierofficial?! #suzyshier #suzystyle #suzygirl
  • I have an addiction to candles... it’s kind of a problem. I don’t know why but this scent makes me think of spring. 🌸🌸🌸 (Or maybe I just have spring fever.)
  • I was sent some of these hair elastics from @hairslinky, and I have to admit they have become my favourite hair ties. One of my biggest pet peeves is hair bands stretching out and I love how you can just put these ones in boiling water and then they go back to their original shape! 💯
  • I started using some products from @rockymountainsoapco about a month ago, and I’m hooked. I’m seriously obsessed with the face polish/exfoliant. You can check out the full review on my blog! (P.S. – it’s a Canadian brand! 🇨🇦) → Link in bio
