Ever since I renovated my bathroom i have been itching to give my bedroom a makeover as well. There wasn’t anything really wrong with my bedroom, I just kind of felt like I had outgrown it and it wasn’t really “me” anymore.
The last time I had updated was when I was 19 – need I say more? It was full of bright vibrant colours and mixed patterns. Think Kate Spade meets bohemian.
I actually had only just begun thinking about redoing it, and therefor was in no rush to update it… but that all changed the second I walked in my local Urban Barn store. I fell in love with their current collection. From faux fur pillows, to heavy knit blankets and duvet covers, it was cozy-vibes all around and everything was calling my name.
My new colour palette for my bedroom was actually inspired by a couple of holiday ornaments from Urban Barn – I fell in love with the mixture of blush pink, silver and grey accents. To me there is something that is just so calming, soothing and yet also inspiring about this colour combo.
(Side note: it’s only now as I’m writing this post that I have realized my bedroom now matches my blog, too!)
When I was making my purchases, I focused on grabbing a few statement pieces like pillows, new bedding and a lamp (which some of you might recognize from my Instagram story when I went was at Urban Barn!) along with some small decor items like candles, from Urban Barn.

Because I was going with such a limited colour palette, I made sure to incorporate lots of different textures throughout the room and mixed up some new and vintage decor items to keep things interesting.
For example, the cute brass deer figure in the photo above is also a vintage find, along with my perfume tray. I also have a couple of vintage teacups around my room, like the pink and gold one you can see beside my bed in some of the photos.
(Bonus: teacups make for a cute storage solution! I toss my bobby pins and hair ties in the one beside my bed at the end of the night.)
In order to save some money, I updated my current furniture, storage and decor items by getting a little crafty.
The majority of my furniture was white and so are my walls, which really helped to keep the cost down. I originally did this on purpose so that if I ever decided to redo my room it was an easy fix. It’s kind of like having a blank canvas!
I had one side table that I originally had painted a bright teal and with a little bit of spray paint it transformed into a brand new piece. (You can see this in one of the photos towards the beginning of the post.)
The white round side table that the tree is on was originally in another room and was brown. I updated it with some white chalk paint. (Fun fact: this table was originally my great grandmothers!)
For my storage solutions, I picked up some white cardboard photo boxes from the dollar store and gave it a makeover using some faux-marble vinyl I already had on hand. I also used the vinyl on a plain wooden tray that I painted white using the same paint from the side table.
I honestly couldn’t be happier with how my bedroom turned out! It’s exactly what I would hope it would be. It is warm, cozy and soothing.
If it was socially acceptable to stay in bed and hibernate all winter I would never leave this room.
There is still one blank wall that needs to be taken care of, but I have a couple of ideas for that already in terms of wall art. I will most likely end up sharing that either on here or my IG stories once that is complete.
I’d also like to give a huge shout out to Urban Barn for making my bedroom makeover dreams come true!
