The 7 Products that Saved My Skin

September 11, 2016

Time for a bit of #RealTalk guys. I’ll be the first to admit that my skin is problematic. I’ve written about it before and how its pretty sensitive and acne prone. It hasn’t always been a struggle for me, as a teenage I never had problems with my skin. Aside from sensitivities (a lot of products would give me rashes but it wasn’t anything that a Benadryl couldn’t take care of) I never experienced any bad breakouts, just one odd pimple every so often. I think this is one of the reasons that I find it such a struggle now. It’s simply just not fun to have breakouts in your mid to late twenties like you’re 16.

In the past, I’ve mentioned some products here and there that I truly love and that had a drastic impact on my skin such as my favourite face masks and raving about Aide Bodycare’s facial serum (seriously, it rocks!), but I have yet to dedicate an entire post to these products so I thought that it was about time I wrote one.

I still get the odd couple of breakouts here and then, (especially around that time of the month) but nothing like I did before thanks to these products:

Active Pureness Corrector | by Comfort Zone

I only picked up the corrector about a month or so ago since I had such great results from the face mask from the same line. It has definitely helped to speed up the healing process for when I do get breakouts. What I really love about it though is that I notice a difference practically instantly with the redness and making breakouts less noticeable.

Blue Clay Soap | by Herbivore Botanicals

I’ve posted about this one on Instagram before; Herbivore Botanical’s blue clay facial soap has pretty much become my daily cleanser. Not only has dramatically improved my breakouts, but it doesn’t dry out my skin as much as some of the other products I’ve tried in the past, which I’m sure is also helping with keeping breakouts minimal. It leaves my face feeling super soft!

Activated Rose Charcoal Soap | by BeurreDAmon

This is another facial cleansing bar, while I use the blue clay soap most regularly, I will alternate and use this one about 3x a week at night. I love this one because not only is it a great exfoliant, but I have also noticed that it really helps with minimizing my pores and brightening my overall complexion. It really gives you a deep clean!

7 Products for cleaner, better skin | via Teacups & Things

100% Botanicals Facial Serum | by Aide Bodycare

I love this product so much that I dedicated an entire post to it. I tend to always break out whenever I use moisturizer, so I love this product because it’s all natural and really hydrates my skin. After a few months of switching to this, not only does my skin have a natural glow, but I also get less break outs.

Active Pureness Face Mask | by Comfort Zone

This is another item that I have posted about before, I think out of all of the items on the list this one has had the most dramatic effect on improving my skin. It’s reduced my break outs,  improved the overall tone of my skin and my face just feels so great and refreshed after using it.

Kind to Skin Facial Cleansing Wipes | by Simple

While I realize that make-up remover would be more cost effective, I have never found one that doesn’t irritate my skin and still gets off all of my makeup. I love these wipes because they are fairly large so you can get literally all your makeup off with one. It’s packed with Vitamin B5 and E, contains no alcohol, oil, artificial colours and contains purified water to help minimize irritation. The biggest plus about these guys is they don’t leave any oily residue so the odd time I’m too exhausted to rinse my face after (I keep one package in my nightstand for these nights), it doesn’t cause any breakouts or make my skin feel gross.

Tea Tree Water Toner | by Lush

I love this toner so much. In the past when I tried toners they always made my skin worse and caused more breakouts. I think this one works so well for my skin because it’s all natural ingredients: tea tree water, grapefruit water, juniper water, and natural essential oils. I find this one really refreshing and it really helps to reduce redness.

And there you have it! I guess you could call this my holy grail of skincare products. If you’ve ever tried any of these products before let me know if the worked for you too or what your favourite skincare products are.

I had content planned to post sooner (like this photo as I’m sure you can clearly tell by the Christmas decorations 😅), but life happened and I ended up taking a break from Instagram for the rest of my holidays which honestly was really nice.

This week was my first week back to work, so I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my pjs and Ruffi again this weekend.

This one has been a favourite of mine for a few years now. It might be time for me to get a new one to keep things fresh… or should I say ‘pine' fresh. See what I did there? Ok, I’ll see myself out. 🙈 #uglychristmassweater #christmas2020
